Birds Australia's core activity is the conservation of birds and their habitats. Our motto is Conservation Through Knowledge, and it neatly sums up how we go about our business. We generate knowledge about birds through research, and then apply and disseminate that knowledge to the people who can best use it: politicians and government policy-makers, private land-managers and landowners, other conservation organisations and the general public.
Birds Australia forms a vital link between volunteers collecting data, scientists conducting research and the decision-makers who use and can rely on that research. Our projects are conservation oriented, and most of them rely on this interaction between volunteers and scientists. These projects engage the community in conservation and provide excellent value for the funder's money along with sound science-based outcomes.
Birds Australia's conservation activities are overseen by our Research and Conservation Committee (RACC), made up of highly respected scientists and conservationists who donate their time and expertise for the good of the organisation and our birds.
