Graeme joined Birds Australia as Chief Executive Officer in December 2004. He has a background in public sector management, ecological research and university teaching and brings to the position of CEO experience in scientific and organisational management. Prior to joining Birds Australia Graeme was Australia's Chief Plant Protection Officer, with the Australian Government in Canberra, and was responsible for coordinating the national effort to eradicate exotic pests and diseases of crops and pastures as well as major invasive species such as fire ants. As Director of the Australian Plague Locust Commission his determination to assess and reduce the impact of pesticides on non-target fauna led to the world's first operational use against locusts of a biopesticide based on a naturally-occurring fungus.Graeme has a degree in biological sciences from La Trobe University and postgraduate degrees from London and Queensland Universities.
